Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol, born in 1928, was a prominent American artist, a leading figure in the visual art movement known as Pop Art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, culture, and advertisement that flourished... in the 1960s. Warhol’s art used many types of media, including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. He was known for his depictions of iconic American objects and celebrities, like his famous Campbell’s Soup Cans and Marilyn Monroe portraits. His New York studio, The Factory, became a famous gathering place for intellectuals, drag queens, playwrights, Bohemian street people, Hollywood celebrities, and wealthy patrons.
